Extreme Dreams
Extreme Dreams
1994-1996
This page showcases artwork, concepts, and story development from Extreme Dreams, a canceled video game born from an 18-month collaboration with Mike McAuley, creative director at Head Games, a small San Francisco studio. Initially slated as the company’s first PlayStation title following X-Men 2 on Sega Genesis, Extreme Dreams blended my concept art and writing with Mike’s vision into a vibrant alternate universe.
Set in a world of animal-human hybrids and rocket-powered craft, the game followed Dim, a downtrodden rocket board rider slaving away at Burger Clown. Obsessed with pro rider Sandy, Dim’s journey pitted him against oppressive bosses, rival boarders Thrash and Too Cool Todd, and a web of secret societies. The story wove together themes of love, competition, and rebellion—until a new studio director and focus groups deemed it “too extreme,” shelving the project.
