Extreme Dreams
Extreme Dreams
1994-1996
The artwork, concepts and story shown on this page are the results of a collaboration between myself and one of the creative directors at a small San Francisco game studio called Head Games. Creative director Mike McAuley and I spent a year and a half brain storming, writing and for me concepting a game that was eventually to be called Extreme Dreams. Extreme Dreams was to be the companies next game and first entry into the Playstation platform after the rest of the team finished up X-Men 2 for the Sega Genesis.
Extreme Dreams was set in an alternate universe populated with animal human hybrids and rocket engine powered craft. Our main character Dim was a lowly rocket board rider with a horribly oppressive job at Burger Clown. He was in love with a pro rocket board rider named Sandy. As the game story progressed Dim would not only have to battle the evil bosses but the constant challenges of other pro board riders Thrash and Too Cool Todd. The characters and story explored themes of love, competition, oppression and secret societies.
A new studio director was hired and through a series of focus groups Extreme Dreams was determined to be too extreme and the game was canceled.
